Should Parents Be Blame For Their              Children’s Action?

Parents act as a significant role in developing their children, mentally and physically. They take care of children's biological needs and give them proper education so that they can grow up with healthy body. They need to provide them with good environment, protect them from bad influences, and have them educated in the school and as well support them when their children need them. In fact, parent sometimes does not pay attention with their children, what are they is doing and who they are playing with which result in lot of problem and issues such as bullying, online addiction, smoking and others. In the other way, children also have their own responsibility to learn something good, avoid committing in crime or getting themselves into a bad situation and become a burden for society. Due to the increase of the social issue, should parents be blamed for their children’s action? ( Teoh Qiao Zhi )

First of all, we know that being a parent is the hardest job in the world. Parent, they play the most important roles for their children, they should take care and protect, as well as knowledge to differentiating good and bad, wrong and correct for their children. And as children they should know what they are doing and is the things they do is right or wrong. They should have their own thinking of it.  Unfortunately, home ministry claim that a total of 131,841 drug addicts have been registered in Malaysia between January 2010 and February 2016. Drug abuse among youth aged 19 and below amounted to 8,732 people. For this case, do you think parent should be blamed for their children’s action? In fact, the parents and the children also have to bear their own responsibility. Parent should implant their children to ‘say no’ for drug since they are kid which might not know what is a 'can do' or 'can't do'. For the children, they should know what the effect will cause if taking drug, they should not easy to get attract from drug and they have to listen the advice from their parent and from their school. From their age, they have their right to choose the action with do and don’t.  ( Ooi Lay Wei )

Other than that, there are also cases on smoking among teenagers. These cases not only happened in Malaysia but also around the world. For example, a real case that happened in Nepal is that a boy name Luke started smoking since he was 12 year old because his brother asked him to have a try and now smoking become his daily ritual. In this situation should their parents be blame? In my opinion, BOTH of them have the responsibility of it. The parents should concern their children more and tell them what cigarettes bring harm to them. And as children they should know the effect of smoking and avoid it. Besides that, there is also a real case that happened in New York, 13 and 15 year old teenagers steal 2 cars. So back to the same question, should their parent be blame for their action? In fact, BOTH of them have their own responsibility on it. As parents they should spend their time to communicate with their children, told them the laws, the consequences of stealing and the action that violate the laws and for the children side they should think twice and carefully before they do the action. Is the things should be doing or not should be and they need to think about the consequences.   ( Hor Chia Yee)

In conclusion, as we all know, parents are the “leader” in their house, parents have a responsibility to teach their child, but as a child also have responsibility for their own actions. As the parents, they should teach their child about the moral values. Parents also need to teach their child what is right and what is wrong. As the parents should be a good example and let your child to learn the correct thing, behind the reason is children learn from what they see, hear and do from their parents. BUT, as the children also have the responsibility for themselves, because they need to observe by themselves, do not be reckless, think before they do. As a child need to know and learn how to make friend, choose the friend that have good attitude and get more involved with them and if the friend like the disreputable attitude you need to keep away from them, Child need to get the knowledge to protect themselves, it will become more safe.   ( Tan Yun Chin )
